KUALA LUMPUR, 13 SEPT – A primary school teacher today pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court to the charge of physical sexual abuse against his former male student who is now 13 years old, five months ago.

Wen Beng Heng, 54, was charged with committing the act in a house in Jinjang Utara at about 10:30pm in mid-April last under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017 and read together with Section 16( 1) the same act.

If convicted, Wen faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and caning and in addition to the punishment for Section 16(1), can be imprisoned for not more than five years and can also be punished with not less than two lashes.

Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Noor Shakira Aliana Alias ​​did not offer bail on the grounds that the offense was not bailable.

“However, if the court wants to grant bail to the accused, the prosecution requests that it be set at RM50,000 with additional conditions that the accused must report to the police station once a month, hand over his passport to the court and not disturb the victim, family (victim) and prosecution witnesses,” he said. .

S.Muraliraj’s lawyer asked the court to grant bail on the grounds that his client needs to support his family and has provided good cooperation throughout the police investigation.

Judge Azrul Darus, who allowed Wen to be bailed at RM20,000 with one surety and ordered the accused to report to the Jinjang Police Station once a month and hand over his passport to the court until the case is completed, set November 21 for mention. – Named
