BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, OCT 24 – After studying for three years filled with its own challenges and successes, a total of 882 Class of 2024 graduates were celebrated and received their diploma certificates at the 10th Brunei Polytechnic (PB) Convocation Ceremony which took place in the Plenary Hall, Center International Conference on Intensity (ICC), today.

Present as the guest of honor and completing the presentation of diploma certificates to the graduates in the morning session was the Minister of Education, the Honorable Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh.

Also present at the ceremony were the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal), Ministry of Finance and Economy, Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani as Chairman of the PB Management Board; members of the PB Governing Board and the award sponsors.

To bless the ceremony, the recitation of the holy verses of the Al-Quran, namely Surah Az-Zumar starting from verse 49 to verse 52 was read by graduates from the Level 5 Diploma Program in Digital Media, School of Information and Communication Technology, PB, Awang Mohammad Akmal Hadif bin Mohd Shah @ Mohd Latif Hadi; and the gist of the verse was read by Awang Muhammad Gabriel Mateen bin Abdullah Yong @ Gabriel Yong Chen Wei, who is a graduate of the Level 5 Diploma Program in Health Sciences, School of Health Sciences, PB.

The ceremony continued with a welcome speech by Acting PB Director, Lim Kian Boon who is also the Chairman of the Supreme Committee and Working Committee of the 10th PB Convocation Council.

The highlight of the ceremony saw the presentation of Level 5 Diploma certificates by the Honorable Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah.

The ceremony ended with a prayer of thanksgiving led by the Affairs Officer of Kampung Belimbing Subok Mosque, Pengiran Mohammad Akbar bin Pengiran Haji Sabri.

While at the convocation ceremony in the afternoon session, the Minister of Development, the Honorable Dato Seri Setia Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid was present as the guest of honor and completed the presentation of diploma certificates to the celebrated graduates.

PB’s 10th Convocation Ceremony will also hold a Student Awards Ceremony for the selected graduates which will take place on November 2 at the Jerudong Park Ampitheatre. The awards that will be presented at the event are: Best Student Award; Academic Excellence Award; Enrichment Activities Excellence Award; Innovation Award; Chinese Ambassador Award sponsored by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Brunei Darussalam; and Staff Excellence Award which is one of the newest award categories.

The graduates who were celebrated successfully completed their respective study programs offered by the schools under PB namely the School of Trade, School of Information and Communication Technology, School of Science and Engineering, School of Health Sciences and the first cohort of graduates from the School of Petrochemistry. The Level 5 Diploma is recognized by the Ministry of Education through the National Council for the Recognition of Graduation (MKPK).

This year’s convocation ceremony was divided into morning and afternoon sessions where a total of 882 graduates, 388 male graduates and 494 female graduates, received Level 5 Diploma certificates.

Of these, a total of 186 graduates from the Business Program, 150 graduates from the Information and Communication Technology Program, 185 graduates from the Science and Engineering Program, 188 from the Health Science Program, and another 173 graduates from the Level 5 Diploma under the Petrochemical Program.
