Theft from locker room leads to PlayStation purchases: Hunting Valley Police Blotter

HUNTING VALLEY, Ohio

Theft: SOM Center Road

A University School student and hockey player, 17, along with his mother, came to the police station Sept. 30 to report the theft of cash and credit card information from his wallet in the locker room while he was working out five days earlier.

He said that around 5:20 p.m. Sept. 25, he finished lifting weights and returned to his unsecured locker, where he noticed that the pockets of his backpack were open.

Around $41 was missing but the rest of the wallet’s contents appeared to be there, including any credit cards. About two hours later, when he told his mother about the theft, their bank notified him that there was a $25 charge to PlayStation.

Within minutes, around 7:18 p.m., there was a second $10 charge, with a third attempt made but stopped by the bank.

The victim believed that someone took a photo of his bank card because he still had it in his possession while the charges were made.

He said he emailed University School, where officials looked at security camera footage but were unable to determine who might have been responsible.

The student told police that Hayden stated during the time period numerous University School sports teams were in and out of the locker room while he was lifting.
