Sport: Talented Kulset is one of Norway’s strongest climbing riders. Now there is uncertainty about the way forward for the Uno-X rider.
“Johannes Kulset unfortunately crashed during the team’s training camp in Spain on Wednesday. He has broken some bones in his face and is now returning to Oslo to see a specialist,” writes the Norwegian team on Instagram.
The blow comes at an extremely convenient time for Kulset, who is mentioned among the riders in question for Uno-X’s Tour de France squad.
Thursday’s message contains no indication of what significance the facial injuries will have on Kulset’s opportunities to train and compete in the future.
The 20-year-old has shown solid climbing form on several occasions this season. Among other things, he came third overall in the youth competition in the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya.
In the Uno-X team, there are very few riders who follow Kulset in the mountains. Thus, he will be relevant for the Tour de France squad to be a strong card in the toughest stages.
Uno-X have been very unlucky with injuries this season. Another highly topical Tour de France participant, Tobias Halland Johannessen, has been struggling with a knee injury recently. He is now back in full training, the team informs NTB.
The Danish big signing Magnus Cort has also recently returned to competition after a long break due to injury.
