Former national goalkeeper Kevin Trapp of Eintracht Frankfurt suffered an unusual injury during the 2-1 victory in Wolfsburg. The 33-year-old sustained a muscle injury in his thigh during a tee shot and had to be substituted at half-time.

“Trappo felt a stab wound when he hit the ball away. We now have to wait for the MRI,” said coach Dino Toppmöller.

Trapp’s absence gave the 21-year-old reserve goalkeeper Kaua Santos an unexpected Bundesliga debut. The young Brazilian moved from Flamengo Rio de Janeiro to Frankfurt last year. “Kaua did what we have seen from him in training over the last few weeks and months: He is a goalkeeper who acts very courageously. He helped the team a lot today,” praised Toppmöller.
