While “Mr. Aznavour” comes to the cinema this Wednesday, October 23, co-produced by Jean-Rachid Kallouche, the husband of his daughter Katia, the other children of Charles Aznavour multiply the tributes on this centenary of his birth. Nicolas, the youngest of the siblings, put on the “Aznavour classic” concertwhich filled the Philharmonie in September. Mischa, the fifth of the artist’s six children, is preparing a symphonic show at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, produced by Norbert Saada. It will be November 23, just one month after the arrival in theaters of biopic directed by Mehdi Idir and Grand Corps Malade.
An orchestra of 80 instruments, led by Armenian conductor Vahan Mardirossian, will accompany the voice of the star who died in 2018 at the age of 94. “The musicians will play live on my father’s voice which we removed from the original tapes,” explains Mischa Aznavour, artistic director of this show. The Aznavour tribe perpetuates the work of their illustrious father: the profits notably support the Aznavour Foundation, directed by his son Nicolas, in Armenia. For its part, Universal is preparing the release of a box set of 1,700 songs, including 1,200 in French.
