I had to take early retirement to care for my father, so for five years, I had to buy health insurance on the open market. I paid $7,000 per year and had a $7,000 deductible, so I had to spend $14,000 before the insurance company would pay a dime.
I am very conscious of health care provisions, so when I hear Donald J. Trump, after four years in the White House and 3 1/2 years as a candidate, say in his debate that he has no more than “concepts of a plan” for health care, that is a deal breaker.
When I hear JD Vance in his debate talk about “high-risk pools,” I know that means people over 40 are going to pay a lot more for health insurance. If you are over 40 and think there is even a remote chance you may have to buy your own insurance, think long and hard about what DJT and JD are selling you.
