KABUL, SEPT 25 – At least two died while more than 500 others were infected with an unidentified disease in Parwan province, eastern Afghanistan, reports Xinhua.
Within four days, more than 500 people were infected with the disease in the Kafshan area, Shinwari district which is about 80 kilometers north of Kabul and the number of reported cases continues to increase, said the spokesman of the provincial governor, Hikmatullah Shamim through his X social media account.
Of that number, 50 patients were reported to be in critical condition, he said.
Among the symptoms of this disease include weakness and lethargy, pain in the hands and feet, severe diarrhea and high fever.
Shamim said health teams were sent to the area, while patients who were in critical condition were transferred to the provincial hospital in Parwan and the infectious disease hospital in Kabul for treatment.
The cause of the disease outbreak has not yet been determined. – Named
