Two deputies of the city council (sakrebulo), Irakli Etzveradze and Irakli Nadiradze, members of the “National Movement” political council, were arrested in Tbilisi.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia confirmed only the arrest of Etzveradze. According to law enforcement officials, the politician interfered with the investigative actions of police officers related to drug-related crimes.

The “National Movement” called what happened “a condemned attempt of the Georgian dream of keeping power through violence.” The party called for the “immediate” release of its two members.

According to the Administrative Code of Georgia, Etzveradze is accused of petty hooliganism and disobedience to the demands of the police. Last September, he was beaten near his home while returning from work.
