Two men kick another man on ground outside Crazy Horse; woman never paid by fake employer: Brook Park police blotter

BROOK PARK, Ohio –

Assault: Brookpark Road

Two Middleburg Heights men, 33 and 34, attacked a Parma man at about 2 a.m. Sept. 22 in the parking lot of Crazy Horse, 16600 Brookpark.

Police were called to Crazy Horse regarding a fight in progress. When they arrived, a witness pointed to the two Middleburg Heights men and said they had assaulted the Parma man.

The two Middleburg Heights men, who didn’t speak much English, said they had introduced themselves to the Parma man but the Parma man didn’t want to speak to them.

An argument started between the Middleburg Heights men and the Parma man. The Middleburg Heights men forced the Parma man to the ground in the parking lot and kicked him several times.

The Parma man, who also didn’t speak much English, chose not to press charges. Paramedics examined the Parma man but he refused to go to a hospital.

Fraud: North Gallatin Boulevard

A North Gallatin woman told police Sept. 18 that she had been hired by a fake company that never paid her.

The woman said that she worked for the fraudulent company for about one month. She had applied for the job on the website Indeed and was hired as a packaging specialist, inspecting, relabeling and mailing packages.

The woman was told that she would earn $3,500 a month and would be eligible for bonuses. Her first paycheck was due Sept. 16 but she never received the money in her bank account.

The woman attempted to log onto the company website but had been locked out. She called several company contacts but the numbers were either disconnected or rang continuously.

Police looked at the company website, which appeared incomplete. The website didn’t provide the company’s phone number or location.

Police found several online complaints from people saying they were scammed by the fake company.

The woman was worried because she gave her bank information to the fake company. She changed all of her passwords. The woman didn’t lose any money, only time.

Possession of narcotics & narcotics equipment: Engle Road

A Brook Park man, 42, was arrested at about 1:30 a.m. Sept. 20 after police found what they believed were illegal narcotics in his possession.

Police had pulled over the man on his electric scooter because he was driving outside marked lanes on Engle near Brookpark Road. He even went left of center.

The man looked familiar to police. They had arrested him a few months earlier for trafficking in drugs.

Police asked the man if they could search a plastic bag that he was carrying. He opened the bag for them. Police noticed a hypodermic needle inside.

Police grabbed the man’s arm and instructed him to place both hands behind his back. He resisted. Police wrestled him to the ground and handcuffed him.

There were two small, clear plastic bags on the ground next to the man. Both bags contained a white crystal-like substance, which the man said was methamphetamine.

Inside the plastic bag were four hypodermic needles, one containing a substance which the man said was likely fentanyl, and a glass pipe.

Operating a vehicle under the influence: Ohio 237

An intoxicated New London man, 45, was arrested at about 5 p.m. Sept. 19 after he fell asleep in a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of 237 southbound near Sheldon Road.

When police arrived, they saw smoke rising from the vehicle. The man was passed out. Police rubbed his sternum to wake him.

The vehicle smelled like alcohol. An open container of alcohol was in the center console. The man, once out of the car, was unsteady on his feet.

The man admitting having “a little bit” to drink. He failed field sobriety tests.

Operating a vehicle under the influence: Brookpark Road

A Parma Heights man, 34, was arrested at about 3:30 a.m. Sept. 22 after police caught him driving while intoxicated near the entrance gate of NASA Glenn Research Center, 21000 Brookpark.

Police asked the man why he was there. The man said he liked to watch airplanes with his daughter. That night, he wasn’t able to sleep, so he started driving around.

The man denied drinking but was unsteady on his fee. He failed field sobriety tests.

Operating a vehicle under the influence: Ohio 237

A Cleveland man, 49, was arrested at about 2:30 a.m. Sept. 19 for driving drunk on 237 southbound.

Police pulled over the man’s Range Rover because it was weaving on 237 near Sheldon Road. The vehicle smelled like alcohol and the man’s speech was slurred.

The man denied drinking alcohol but failed field sobriety tests.

Theft: Middlebrook Boulevard

A package containing a new cell phone, delivered to a Middlebrook home, was reported stolen at about 5 p.m. Sept. 19.

The victim said the package was delivered to her home at about noon Sept. 18, according to FedEx.
