BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 13 OCT – The activities of a vehicle workshop company located in Kampong Rimba, Mukim Gadong have been ordered to stop their activities and demolish their progress for violating Chapter 23(2), Town and Country Planning Order, Chapter 248 which is to carry out company activities and build building additions without Planning Permission.
According to a statement issued by the Town and Country Planning Department (JPBD), the Ministry of Development explained in its statement that the activity without permission was carried out on land restricted for residential purposes only.
Meanwhile, the additional building without permission involving the building line has been used as a place to store goods for sale. This activity has affected the well-being and cleanliness of the residential area.
Through continuous monitoring by the Planning Authority, the owner has complied with the authority’s instructions by ceasing activities, moving all vehicles and demolishing the unauthorized addition. This case is the result of a complaint received from the public.
The public is reminded to comply with planning laws, particularly Chapter 23 of the TCPO which provides that no person may carry out development on land, divide or consolidate any land or carry out any work in a conservation area without planning permission.
Failure to comply can be subject to a fine as in Chapter 23 (6) which is a fine not exceeding $200,000; and in the case of a continuing offense to an additional fine not exceeding $10,000 for each day during which the offense continues after conviction.
