Upset fired Applebee’s employee arrested for assault: Lyndhurst police blotter

LYNDHURST, Ohio —

Assault: Mayfield Road

At 1 a.m. Oct. 3, police were dispatched to Applebee’s restaurant, 5658 Mayfield Road, on a report that an employee who was being fired from his job wanted to fight staff members.

The suspect, a Richmond Heights man, 22, shoved an employee, an Akron man, 34, and was arrested for assault.

Auto theft: Cedar Road

At 10:15 a.m. Oct. 6, a guest at Hyatt Place, 24665 Cedar Road at Legacy Village, reported that his Ford F-150 Raptor truck was not where he had parked it in the hotel garage.

Police contacted Legacy Village security to gather information for a report. The truck’s owner is a West Bloomfield, Mich. resident. The vehicle has not been found.

Disturbance: Richmond Road

At 11:15 p.m. Oct. 4, police were called to CVS/Pharmacy,1443 Richmond Road, on a report of a male customer causing a disturbance.

Police issued the man a criminal trespass warning. The report did not state what the man did to create a disturbance, nor his age and city of residence.

Aggravated menacing: Oakmont Drive

At 5:15 p.m. Oct. 4, a man, 45, went to the police station lobby to report that a man he knows threw a bottle at a window of his house and broke the window.

The two men had a disagreement over the borrowing of money. They told police different versions of the story, and the victim did not wish to pursue the matter. No one was charged.

Assist person: Cedar Road

At 4:25 p.m. Oct. 4, staff members at Giant Eagle, 25105 Cedar Road at Legacy Village, reported that they encountered an elderly woman purchasing gift cards and attempted to explain to her that she was being victimized by a scammer. The woman, however, would not heed their warnings.

Police explained the scam to the woman, gave her advice as to what to do, and sent her on her way.

Improper handling of a firearm: Farnhurst Road

At 8:55 a.m. Oct. 4, an officer stopped a car that was displaying expired license plates. Inside the car, on the floorboard, police spotted a rifle that was found to be loaded.

Police arrested the driver, a Cleveland Heights man, 20, on a charge of improper handling if a firearm in a motor vehicle, and had his car towed.

Disturbance: Mayfield Road

At 7:10 p.m. Oct. 3, officers were dispatched to the PNC Bank branch at 5055 Mayfield Road, where a construction contractor working at the site reported that an upset painting crew were being disrespectful and would not leave the site.

Following a dispute, the contractor had dismissed the crew.

Police escorted the crew off the property.
