BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 27 – A total of 10 veteran athletes represented Brunei Darussalam in the 12th Open Veteran Athletics Championship which took place at the Keningau Sports Complex, Sabah, recently.
In the tournament, the country’s veteran athlete, Captain (B) Haji Osman bin Haji Lahab from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Veterans Association (PERWIRA), Tutong District Branch, successfully won four gold medals in the events he participated in.
He won gold medals for the Men’s 80 to 84-year-old Category events in the 100m, 200m and 5,000m Race Walk as well as setting a new record in the long jump event.
Captain (R) Haji Osman is the most active athlete among military veterans and now continues to be active at the regional and international level.
