In the arena at the airship port, the 1,850 spectators saw a fast-paced match from the start. After five minutes of play, both teams had scored three times each. Two time penalties in quick succession then meant that the hosts had to let up. After 17 minutes, they were 6:12 behind.
Too many mistakes
Potsdam faced the biggest challenges themselves with passing errors, inaccurate finishes and an overly static attack combined with a weak defense. Since Hamburg was not without mistakes either, they managed to reduce the score to 15:17 shortly after halftime.
After that, the game continued to be unsettled. In the 37th minute, the scoreboard showed 15:21, and a good ten minutes later, 23:25 created tension again. But Potsdam were unable to gain momentum in the final phase.
