Vietnam recorded 12.7 million international arrivals

HANOI, OCT 7 – Vietnam welcomed more than 12.7 million international arrivals in the first nine months of 2024, an increase of 43 percent year-on-year, according to the General Statistics Office.

During the period, foreign arrivals to Vietnam by air reached nearly 10.8 million, accounting for 84.9 percent of the total, followed by road with approximately 1.8 million (13.8 percent) and sea route with nearly 165,700 (3 percent). Most arrivals were from Asia with more than 10.12 million, jumping 47.7 percent year-on-year, according to the report.

In September alone, there were 1.27 million international visitors to Vietnam, the office said. This marked a slight decrease from August, which saw 1.43 million arrivals.

Despite the drop in visitor numbers in September, the tourism industry is determined to reach its goal of attracting 17-18 million international visitors this year, as the last three months are the peak season for international arrivals in Vietnam, reports Vietnam News today. – Xinhua
