Wanted woman arrested outside Motel 6; drunk woman passes out behind the wheel: Middleburg Heights police blotter

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio –

Arrest warrant served, falsification: Bagley Road

A wanted Cleveland woman, 37, was arrested at about midnight Oct. 19 on Bagley.

A license-plate-reading camera had alerted police that a Chevrolet sport-utility vehicle, the owner of which was wanted for felony drug possession and trafficking, was traveling on Bagley near Engle Road.

Police spotted the SUV parked outside Five Guys, 17695 Bagley. They saw the driver – later identified as the Cleveland woman – walking toward Motel 6, 7219 Engle. She was not the SUV’s owner, who was a man.

Police parked and watched the SUV. When the woman returned, they asked her where the owner of the vehicle was. She said he had walked to a nearby Speedway.

Police checked Speedway but the SUV’s owner wasn’t there. Meanwhile, the woman initially provided police a fake identity. She did not match an Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles photo of the name she had given.

The woman had used the same false identification in a previous crime, police then realized. Once they positively identified her, they learned that several warrants had been issued for her arrest.

Operating a vehicle under the influence: Bagley Road & Interstate 71

An intoxicated Cleveland woman, 32, was arrested at about 2 a.m. Oct. 20 after she passed out behind the steering wheel of a sport-utility vehicle stopped at the Bagley-I-71 intersection.

Someone called police and said the SUV had not moved for about five minutes. When police arrived, the SUV was still stopped, even though the traffic light was green.

The woman was sleeping in the SUV. Her foot was on the brake and the gear shift was in drive. The driver’s-side window was halfway down.

Police reached into the SUV through the window but were unable to reach the start button. They woke the woman, who was confused.

Police told the woman to place the SUV in park. The SUV moved slowly forward. Police ordered the woman to put her foot back on the brake and again told her to place the vehicle in park.

The SUV began moving in reverse. Police again urged the woman to put her foot on the brake and place the vehicle in park. This time, she did so.

The woman smelled like alcohol. Her speech was slurred and her eyes were bloodshot and glassy. After police had the woman step out of the vehicle, they noticed she had urinated in her pants.

The woman almost fell several times while walking. She failed field sobriety tests. Police found a half-full bottle of alcohol in the SUV.

Theft: Nethersole Drive

A package containing an $800 Apple watch was stolen from, or never delivered to, a front doorstep on Nethersole.

The victim said she was home when the package was supposedly delivered by FedEx at about 4:15 p.m. Oct. 17. She said she didn’t hear a knock on the door at the time FedEx said it delivered the package.

Tracking information from FedEx showed an image of the victim’s house but the photo did not include the package.

Improper license plates: Bagley Road

A Cleveland woman, 34, was cited at about 12:30 p.m. Oct. 23 after police caught her driving Chrysler Town & Country van with license plates that belonged to a Honda.

The van had stalled on Bagley near Pearl Road. The emergency lights were flashing. The woman said the van belonged to a friend.

Police had the car towed and removed the plates.
