BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 22 – The spread of fake documents that use the logo of the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE) to request cash donations to the Palestine Humanitarian Fund in Gaza and can be made to the Independent Motorcycle club or association, Brunei Darussalam is NOT TRUE.
The Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE) would also like to emphasize to the public that it is an offense to spread false information under Chapter 34, Public Order Act, Chapter 148, which individuals who are found to spread false news verbally, in writing or by any means other means and further causing public disorder, may be fined up to $3,000 and imprisoned for 3 years.
Next, the ministry also emphasized that using the logo of any government agency without permission is a serious offence.
Anyone who cheats by impersonating, if convicted, can be imprisoned for a period not exceeding 7 years and fined under Chapter 419 of the Criminal Code, Chapter 22.
For this case of spreading false information, a report to the authorities has been implemented for the purpose of investigation. On this occasion, the public is advised to contact the Corporate Communications Unit, MOFE via 2380999 or via email [email protected] if there is any suspicious information.
