The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 4:06 a.m. on Sunday for dense fog until 9 a.m. for Athens, Jackson, Vinton, Meigs and Gallia counties.
“Areas of fog, locally dense in spots, is underway or is expected to develop this morning. Reduced visibilities below half a mile will be possible from now until around sunrise. If traveling this morning, use extra caution and be prepared for rapidly changing visibilities,” says the weather service.
