BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 8 – Brunei Darussalam’s weather conditions are predicted to be active for the next few days from September 7 to September 11 with thundery rain, occasional heavy rain and strong winds expected to cross the interior in the evening and may spread to the country’s coastal areas at night with wind speeds up to 50 km/h during heavy rain or strong winds.

Meanwhile, sea conditions are generally choppy at a slight to moderate level, between 0.5-1.5 meters.

Information on the country’s weather conditions, released by the Brunei Darussalam Meteorology Department, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, here, with the department also stating that Brunei Darussalam is currently heading towards the end of the Southwest Monsoon by the end of September.

During the Southwest Monsoon, the atmospheric conditions in the country are usually quite stable with fewer thunderstorms compared to the transition monsoon with the wind generally blowing from the Southwest during the period.

The public is advised to take early measures for active weather events that are predicted to occur with the risk of flash floods, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas and in areas near riverbanks during continuous heavy rain and during high tide events.

In addition, the risk of falling trees and landslides can also occur during heavy rains and strong winds. Therefore, the public including drivers on the road and sailors are advised to be aware of the latest weather forecasts, advisories and warnings issued by the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department and make appropriate plans for everyone’s safety.
