The next system continues to slowly approach the area. As it does, skies are starting to turn unsettled to the west. There are currently some sprinkles and more cloud cover in Western Kansas.
Today’s rain chance will mainly be in Western Kansas with areas farther east staying dry. Rain to the west will be spotty but could also briefly turn heavier at times later today.
High temperatures will be near and slightly above average in the upper 60s to the 70s.
Winds will continue to be strong too. Sustained wind speeds will be up to 15 to 30 mph.
Even though our winds will be gusty again, there are only two counties that will be under a Wind Advisory. Barton and Russell counties.
After dark, a shower or non-severe storm will start to be possible in Central Kansas. Chances will still be lower compared to areas west into early Saturday.
This is how this plays out through the day Saturday. Rainfall, heavier at times, favors Western Kansas.
There will be a similar scenario during the day on Sunday. Most of the rainfall occurs closer to the Kansas/Colorado line.
This system starts to advance east Sunday night into Monday. This is when rain chances will be more likely for Central Kansas.
Once rainfall tracks east it will do just that through the day Monday and we will dry back out by Tuesday. We have some warm days ahead next week in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
