WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Wichita manufacturing company that does work for several large aviation companies is furloughing 20% of its workforce.
As a result of the multiple strikes affecting our industry, Cox Machine is furloughing approximately 56 employees, about 20% or our workforce. Many of the employees remaining will participate in a shared work program. We anticipate the return of these employees as industry conditions improve.”
Jason Cox, Cox Machine Inc. president
The company specializes in making precision parts and components for several companies, including Textron Aviation, which operates Cessna and Beechcraft in Wichita, and Boeing. Workers are striking for better contracts at Boeing and Textron Aviation.
Cox said some furloughs are in Wichita, and some are in Harper.
