Woman, 30s, in critical condition following two-car collision in Cork

A woman, aged in her 30s, is in critical condition following a two-car collision in Co Cork.

The crash occurred on the N28 road in the Mount Oval area at around 10am on Wednesday.

Following the collision, the injured woman was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment.

The road is currently closed, and it is understood that a technical examination will be carried out.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí have received a report of a two car collision at approximately 10am this morning on the N28 road Mount Oval area, Co. Cork.

“One woman in her 30s in critical condition has been transported to Cork University Hospital.

“The road remains closed at this time.”

Elsewhere, gardaí are also at the scene of a “suspected gas leak” on the N40 road in Mahon.

Traffic is understood to be heavily backed up in the area as a result.

A garda spokesperson told the Irish Examiner that gardaí are currently assisting with traffic management in the area.

Access to Mahon and St Michaels Drive are currently restricted.

A number of units of Cork City Fire Brigade are also at the scene.
