KUALA LUMPUR, 25 OCT – Malaysia’s national men’s singles coach, K Yogendran is planning the best strategy to improve the performance of Leong Jun Hao and Justin Hoh, before participating in any tournament.

Yogendran, who took over the responsibility of guiding the national men’s singles squad last month, said the two players, have their own advantages to improve their performance but need some improvement.

“I am trying to correct their movements and shots. This is what I’m trying to focus on right now.

“If they want to play at the highest level, they have to have something special like the other best players,” he said when met at the Academy of Badminton Malaysia (ABM) today.

Meanwhile, Yogendran said another male singles player, Ng Tze Yong showed positive progress after suffering a back injury.

However, he said the 24-year-old player, will not participate in any tournament to give full focus to the recovery process.

“We have discussed with Tze Yong that we want him to prepare mentally (and physically), before participating in the tournament. We don’t want to rush him too much.

“We don’t want him to participate in the tournament and get injured,” he said.

Tze Yong suffered a back injury while playing at the Asian Team Championships in Shah Alam last February, thereby ruining his dream of qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics. – Bernama
