LONDON, OCT 10 – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with UK prime minister Keir Starmer and Nato chief Mark Rutte in London today, as the Ukrainian leader began a short visit to European capitals to seek military assistance ahead of the US election ( US), next month.
Starmer told Rutte during a tripartite meeting in Downing Street that he and Zelensky had discussed plans for Ukraine’s victory in its fight against Russia’s massive invasion that began more than two years ago.
“This is about Ukraine but it is also about Western defense and how we stay safe,” Rutte said in a televised statement.
Starmer earlier greeted Zelensky, dressed in his iconic military uniform, with a handshake and hug outside his official residence in the British capital.
He told him that “it is very important that we show our continued commitment to support Ukraine” and that the meeting was an opportunity to “go through the plan and discuss it in more detail.” – AFP
