80 senior citizens compete in memorizing the Quran

BELAIT, SEPT 5 – A total of 80 seniors aged 60 and over, consisting of 40 men and 40 women from all over the country participated in the National Level Al-Quran Memorization Competition held at the RPN Kampung Pandan Mosque yesterday.

The competition organized by the Department of Mosque Affairs through the Emirah Division and the Takmir Committee of the RPN Kampung Pandan Mosque was held in conjunction with the 78th Birthday Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

It aims to foster a culture and love for reciting the Al-Quran among the elderly while deepening the knowledge of the Islamic Faith through the reading, in addition to encouraging and encouraging residents from the surrounding area and beyond to participate in religious activities that are often held in mosques.

Present as the guest of honor and also presenting prizes and trophies to the winners of the competition was the Acting Director of Mosque Affairs, Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri.

For the male category, first place was won by Haji Brahim bin Haji Mohamad with a final score of 91.6, closely followed by Haji Imran bin Haji Ibrahim and Haji Gapor bin Ahad in second and third place respectively.

Haji Amir Hisham presented gifts and trophies to Haji Brahim during the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Hajah Amidah binti Ghafar ranked first in the female category with a final score of 92.3 while Hajah Khairul Aini binti DP Haji Abdul Wahab and Hajah Ramlah binti Haji Abd Rahman were in second and third place respectively.
