Economy and business: Seafood worth NOK 13.9 billion was sent out of the country last month. That is 7 percent more than April last year.

– The growth is largely due to the Norwegian krone, which has weakened slightly against both the euro and the US dollar compared to April last year, says director Christian Chramer of Norway’s Seafood Council in a press release.

For cod, there has not been a lower export volume in ten years. Nevertheless, the export value has never been higher for “a fat and fine and Norwegian one”. The price rise for cod is due to a reduction in quotas and increased demand as a result of sanctions against Russia.

Measured in kroner, so far this year Norway has produced about the same amount of seafood as last year. In euros, there is talk of a decrease of 3 percent.
