Sport: After victory in the qualification and semi-finals, Benjaminsen was the best again when everything was to be decided in the evening’s final. She won ahead of Ingeborg Rygg Eikeland and last year’s winner Victoria Hæstad Bjørnstad.

– The final was a bit messier than the previous heats, but it was a really good knockout final, she said.

Benjaminsen won his second King’s Cup. She got the first for her NM long-distance victory in 2019.

Fosser also won the King’s Cup for the second time. He won the men’s final ahead of Jørgen Baklid and Eirik Langedal Breivik.

– I came a little behind at the start and had to do a lot of righting to get to the front again. After that it went well for a while, until I made another mistake towards the end. Nevertheless, I managed to keep up the pressure all the way to the finish line. It was delicious, he said of the victory.

The junior classes were won by Alfred Bjørnerød, Ola Dåsnes, Maria Strømdal Wik and Ine Bohnhorst Tegdan. While other finals were decided by a few seconds, Wik was completely superior in the final for women older juniors.

The Sprint NM continues on Saturday with an individual sprint and ends on Sunday with a sprint relay.
