Sport: The triumph is also Glimt’s first at Lerkendal since June 2020. The subsequent matches have ended in two draws and one Rosenborg victory.

– It is a difficult course to play on. We were quite dominant in the first half, but then things happened a bit in the second half. We lose a bit of focus, but it’s nice to deliver a good performance, said Albert Grønbæk to TV 2.

With three new points, Glimt continues at the top of the table. Three points separate Molde and Brann in the places behind. Glimt has also already acquired a significantly better goal difference than its competitors.

Before the match, there was a lot of focus on the fact that 16-year-old Håkon Volden had to step in for Thomas Nemcik in the RBK defense after the Slovak injured himself in the cup match in midweek.

However, it would turn out that it was far more experienced players who turned away from Glimt’s star gallery. With a bad touch, Sælnes gave the ball to an alert Nino Zugelj, who made it 2-0 before the break.

– I have a bad feeling now. I feel we control the game, but then they are deadly effective. I was moving forward and wasn’t prepared to get that ball, so it was boring, Selnæs said when he met TV 2 during the break.

It took just over six minutes before the yellow jerseys put the ball in the goal for the first time. Jostein Gundersen sent Kasper Høgh through with a lovely ball, which again knocked the visitors into the lead. The scoring was initially called off for offside, but after a small VAR check it still read 1-0 on the scoreboard.

– It was a great ball from “Jos”, so it was just a matter of putting it in the goal, said Høgh.

– He hesitates a bit and gets a bad touch, then Glimt’s top scorer is in cash when he puts it in, commented Yaw Amankwah on TV 2.

– It’s hard to swallow, said Øyvind Alsaker.

During the break, Glimt decided to rest Høgh and replaced him with Ulrik Saltnes. This meant that Håkon Evjen was moved forward in the attack.

The guests still did not let up on the gas pedal and just five minutes into the half it was 3-0 after Fredrik Bjørkan played through Albert Grønbæk.

– He can handle it in the Dane, Mikkel Ceide. There was a lot to poke at in the Rosenborg defence. There, the structure completely burst open, Alsaker said.

Ole Sæter was thus able to step up to the chalk mark and put in the reduction for the hosts. It was “the lion from Singsaker’s” fourth goal of the season, which makes him the top scorer in the league.

Rosenborg is in a very tough period. In addition to Saturday’s home loss to Glimt, the Trønders will face Brann and Molde away in the next two league games.

Glimt, on the other hand, take on Strømsgodset in the next series round, before they visit KBK on 12 May. Football’s national day on 16 May will be celebrated at home against Tromsø.

It got worse for the hosts when veteran Selnæs messed it up in front of goal. Zugelj did not hesitate for a second when he picked up the ball and doubled the lead ten minutes before the break.

Admittedly, Glimt were not faultless in defense either, because just two minutes later Fredrik Sjøvold brought down Jesper Reitan-Sunde inside the 16-metre area, and referee Rohit Saggi pointed to the penalty mark.
