The high-profile influencer was known for making videos in which she danced to Iraqi music, wearing tight-fitting clothes. In February last year, she was sentenced to six months in prison for posting “videos with obscene content that violate decency and public morality.”

Last year, the authorities started a campaign to clean up content on social media that it believes violates Iraq’s “morals and traditions”. Since then, several influencers have been arrested.
