Sport: The two Norwegians are ready for the A final in their class after finishing third in the semi-final on Saturday. 3rd place was just about to advance to the A final, but in return the distance to 4th placed France was almost three seconds.

Germany’s Jonas Gelsen and Marc Weber won the semi-final ahead of an Italian boat. Juel and Solbakken were beaten by just nine seconds by the winning boat.

Juel and Solbakken have been selected for the EC at the expense of Oscar Helvig and Kristoffer Brun. The latter two have ensured that one Norwegian double sculler is qualified for the Olympics in Paris, and it is not yet clear which duo will be allowed to compete there.

In the recent World Cup regatta in Varese, Italy, Juel/Solbakken were seven tenths of a second faster than Helvig/Brun when the Norwegian boats were in the same gathering heat.

Earlier on Saturday, Martin Helseth made it to the C-final by winning his semi-final heat in the single sculls.
