War and conflicts: Now 72, Hamill played Luke Skywalker in the first three Star Wars films, which came out between 1977 and 1983.

With him from the visit, the actor received a pair of pilot sunglasses of the type that the president himself is known to wear.

– I love the “merch”, said Hamill at a press conference after the visit.

According to Hamill, President Biden asked to be addressed as Joe, to which the Star Wars actor had the following suggestion: Joe-bi-Wan Kenobi, after the Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi in the film series.

– He liked that, says Hamill.

Neither the actor nor the White House has said anything detailed about the reason for the visit. But the democrat and Biden supporter Hamill wrote to his many followers on social media this week about the election campaign for the sitting president.

4 May – in English “May 4th” – is the unofficial Star Wars day. The background is the well-known quote from the films: “May the fourth be with you”, rewritten as “May the fourth be with you”.

Hamill has also engaged for Ukraine in the war against Russia. Among other things, he has stood up for a fundraising campaign for money for drones for Ukraine. In addition, he lends Luke Skywalker’s voice to the app that tells the Ukrainians when they need to seek out bomb shelters.

The actor has been clear that Russia is the “evil empire”.
