Economy and business: Since the end of March, Russia has carried out almost daily attacks against Ukrainian heating and hydropower stations and against the electricity grid, which has led to blackouts in many regions.

– Today we are talking damage costs of more than a billion dollars. But the attacks continue, and it is obvious that the costs will increase, says Ukraine’s Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. One dollar is worth just under 11 Norwegian kroner.

Halushchenko says that most of the damage has been done to facilities for heat and hydropower and the distribution network.

– The system is stable today, but the situation is quite complicated, he says further. He adds that the weather conditions mean that the power system is currently getting good help from wind and solar power.
