Scholz perplexed by appearance of traffic light

Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) reacted with bewilderment to a question about the image of his traffic light coalition during a public meeting. At the event in Berlin, an educator wanted to know how Scholz explained the disagreements and indiscretions in the government. “It’s like a small group of children: one says one thing, the other says another, and everything is communicated to the outside world,” said the 48-year-old questioner, who works at a Protestant school in Berlin-Pankow.

Scholz replied: “The truth is: you are right.” Then he said to the educator: “Now the question is: what is your magic formula? I mean, I’m asking for a friend.” He has “three enclosed rooms where no one would hear what people say,” Scholz said – obviously referring to bug-proof government meeting rooms – and then looked perplexed. When asked, he simply repeated: “You are right.”

However, Scholz contradicted one of the questioners’ comments. He did not accept the fact that he and Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) constantly disagree. “That has rarely happened so far,” he stressed.
