Sport: On Friday, the youngster can get playing time in the premiere match against the USA. He feels ready for the task.

– If I get the chance, I’ll just go out and play, says Sørum to TT.

The 18-year-old was born and raised in Trondheim, but later moved to his mother’s homeland. He lives and plays club hockey in Leksand.

Sørum is only one of three players Tre Kronor has brought to the WC from the Swedish SHL. In addition, he is still a junior.

– It was not something I had expected, but I will make sure to take advantage of this chance.

Now the great talent hangs out with NHL stars such as Erik Karlsson, Victor Hedman and Lucas Raymond.

– It’s very cool. One must try to learn as much as possible from them. You see how good they are and what you need to improve on, says Sørum.

The curve has pointed sharply upwards for the player with a Swedish and Norwegian passport. Last autumn he made his debut on the Swedish junior national team and helped take silver in the junior WC.

Later he got the chance for Tre Kronor and played his way straight to the WC.

In addition to the USA, Sweden will face Slovakia, Germany, France, Kazakhstan, Poland and Latvia in WC pool B. These matches have been added to Ostrava in the Czech Republic.

Norway is in Group A and opens against Switzerland in Prague on Friday.
