The hosts led 3-0 after the first period, and the Wild never really came close to threatening the win. Seven different players scored for the Golden Knights.
– There is no doubt that this is something they (the players) want. They want an opportunity to win the Stanley Cup again. “The process here has had some ups and downs this season, but we’re working on dealing with it the best way and being ready,” coach Bruce Cassidy told NHL.com.
For the Wild, Marat Khusnutdinov and Ryan Hartman reduced. Mats Zuccarello sat out the match for family reasons. His team is already out of contention to reach the playoffs in the North American Ice Hockey League.
The following teams are ready for the playoffs in the NHL’s Western Conference: Dallas Stars, Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets, Colorado Avalanche, Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators, Los Angeles Kings and Vegas Golden Knights.
In the East, six teams have secured final tickets so far: New York Rangers, Carolina Hurricanes, Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning.
