The investigation into the wife of Spain’s Prime Minister is considered dropped

Policy: On Wednesday it became known that a court in Madrid has decided that Gómez will be investigated for corruption. She is also being investigated for illegal influence, according to a brief announcement from the court.

The investigation was launched on 16 April and is otherwise classified, it is further stated.

The announcement came after the online newspaper El Confidencial linked Begona Gómez to several companies that have received grants and public contracts from her husband’s government.

Sánchez said Wednesday he was considering resigning after news of the investigation.
