Working life: They write that in one press release.

– In 2023, we got over 500 new GPs. Although 300 GPs also left during the period, there was an increase of over 200 GPs in total. It is great to see that recruitment has increased significantly, and we now see that the number without a GP has finally started to fall, says divisional director Helen Brandstorp.

At the same time, the directorate believes that the goal has not yet been reached.

– We are not on target and need more people to choose the specialty of general medicine and become GPs. That is why it is so important that the GP service is an attractive and safe career path, and the grant is a very important contribution. The GP scheme is often referred to as the foundation of the health service, says Brandstorp.
