Crime and justice: The police were alerted to the case by people near the crime scene close to Fredriksten fortress in Halden, around 10.30pm on Saturday evening.

The violent incident happened immediately before this, the police told NTB.

– The deceased was found indoors. The police are investigating the case as murder, says operations manager Ronny Samuelsen in the East police district.

The police’s incident leader at the scene, Frode Pettersen, tells Halden Arbeiderblad that they received a report about noise on site from people who live in the apartment complex.

There are six rental properties at the address in question.

The deceased’s next of kin had not been notified of the case at midnight on Sunday night. On Saturday evening, the police did not want to say anything about the age or gender of those involved.

– We are now working on questioning witnesses who were present, says Pettersen.

– We cannot comment on that for the time being, says operations manager Ronny Samuelsen, who also does not want to go into whether weapons have been used.

This is the 20th murder case that the Norwegian police have gotten their hands on so far this year, shows NTB’s overview of murders in 2024. A total of 25 people have been killed just four months into the year.

He adds that the police have control over the situation, and there should be no danger to others. Forensic technicians are on the scene overnight until Sunday.

The task leader further states that the police have control over a person who they assume is the perpetrator.
