The S’pura group reviewed the Jawi teaching of YSHHB School

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 1 OCT – A total of 18 Bachelor of Arts students and lecturers from the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore visited the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation School (YSHHB) today.

The group’s arrival at the school was welcomed by the Acting Chief Executive of the YSHHB School, Madam Chong Li Cheng, the Principal of the Primary School, Hajah Mariam binti Haji Ladi, the assistant Principal and senior teachers of the school.

The group was led by Dr Sa’eda Buang and was accompanied by three other lecturers namely Associate Professor Dr Roksana Abdullah, Dr Kartini Anwar and Ramlah Begam bte Abdul Hameed.

Among other things, the purpose of the visit is to gain authentic knowledge and experience regarding the learning and teaching of Jawi in the classroom at the school in question as well as to learn examples of good practice and teaching strategies to be used as a guide in efforts to expand the use of Jawi in Singapore.

Earlier before attending the observation session in the classroom selected for the learning session, the group had the opportunity to listen to a briefing on the background of the school and the school’s achievements delivered by the Principal of the YSHHB Primary & Nursery School, Hajah Mariam binti Haji Ladi.
