Sport: Torvastad was awfully close to knocking out two elite league teams on two occasions this spring. In the first round, it was Haugesund who went out after a wild penalty shootout.
On Wednesday, Torvastad did not get off to a good start when Lars-Jørgen Salvesen fixed a 2-0 lead for Viking after just 16 minutes.
One minute into overtime, Georg Grønningen reduced Torvastad’s lead and created renewed hope for the surprise team.
And after the break, the green jerseys came out at a crazy pace, and in just seven minutes Fredrik Lippestad and Roy Miljeteig had turned the game around for the hosts.
With 16 minutes left on the clock, Simen Kvia-Egeskog equalized for Viking, while Salvesen completed the hat-trick and secured a 4-3 victory.
– It is against the course of the game. It is undeserved, said Carl-Erik Torp after the 3-3 scoring in NRK’s cup studio.
The former came 0-2 down after 35 minutes, but after a persistent turnaround, Kristian Eriksen secured Kjelsås promotion in the 90th minute.
Råde fell behind 0-1 after just six minutes, but Rinor Topallaj and Simen Kind Mikalsen turned the game around.
On Wednesday, the rest of the elite series teams progressed to the 3rd round of the cup with the following results:
Askøy – Brann 2-5, Elverum – HamKam 2-4, Fløya – Tromsø 0-6, Frigg – KFUM Oslo 0-3, Junkeren – Bodø/Glimt 0-2, Pors – Odd 0-1, Strindheim – Molde 1- 2, Træff – Kristiansund 1-2, Ullensaker/Kisa – Rosenborg 1-3.
On Thursday, Fredrikstad and Sarpsborg meet Eik Tønsberg and Hønefoss respectively.
In addition to Haugesund, Sandefjord also went out in the first round. The elite series club was beaten by Flekkerøy from the 2nd division.
Already on 1 May, the next round will be played. The draw will be made at 9.30pm tonight.
Kjelsås and Råde surprised by beating the 1st division teams Kongsvinger and Moss.
Lillestrøm and Strømsgodset are currently playing against Strømmen and Jerv respectively. The matches started an hour later than the others.
