Policy: Three sources familiar with the matter told Reuters. The sources are not named. A fourth source says that some of the companies were informed on Tuesday that the export license had been revoked with immediate effect.

The US Department of Commerce confirmed earlier in the day that some licenses had been revoked, but did not state which companies were involved.

Intel says it will not comment on the matter, according to the Reuters news agency. Neither Qualcomm nor Huawei have responded to inquiries from the agency.

Last month, Huawei launched a new laptop, the MateBook X Pro, based on Intel’s new Core Ultra 9 processor.

The reason for the confiscation is not known, but several congressional representatives in Washington have advocated stricter measures to target the Chinese company.
