Economy and business: On the messaging service X, formerly Twitter, write Foreign Minister Israel Katz that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is blocking ports for Israeli exports and imports.
– This is how a dictator behaves, by overlooking the interests of Turkey’s people and businessmen and ignoring trade agreements, writes Katz.
Two unnamed Turkish officials speak Bloomberg News that Turkey has now stopped all trade with Israel. Turkey chose last month to restrict trade with Israel as a reaction to the war in the Gaza Strip.
The two countries traded in 2023 for a sum equivalent to 6.8 billion dollars, according to Turkey’s Central Bureau of Statistics, as cited by Bloomberg. 76 percent of this was Turkish exports to Israel.
