World Snooker Championship | Kyren Wilson gets the job done against David Gilbert and, as in 2020, qualifies for the final

The semi-final battle, which was always completely even in the first two sessions, 4-4 always became 8-8 after sixteen frames, had taken off enormously in the third of four parts; after a 9-9 score, five frames in a row went to Wilson, after which Gilbert reduced the difference to four with a Century Break.

Both players were aware of the importance of the first frame of the final session. That caused nervousness, misses, flukes and all other sensations on both sides. After a big fluke, Wilson seemed to be able to take the initiative, but TheWarrior missed and put Gilbert in the move. He cleared the table and came one frame closer.

Wilson came up with a 47 break a little later, after which there were still 75 points on the table. Although Gilbert embarrassed the number twelve in the world, mainly through a masterful Safety, Wilson was still able to reduce the difference to four frames.

So it was up to Gilbert again, but he didn’t get more than ten points on the board and Wilson scored 54. Had to do it again The Farmer on the defensive, but he did not keep his sheep on dry land. Wilson came within one frame of winning.

Gilbert seemed to want to make it to at least the Mid Session Interval. 49 points on the counter seemed to do the same, if it weren’t for the fact that Wilson, in his well-known way of playing, brought out the real Warrior style to also win the 28th frame. That meant 17-11 and end of match.

Wilson will play the final of the Snooker World Championship for the second time in his career. The 32-year-old player did this for the first time in 2020, during the corona edition of the world championship. In an almost empty Crucible hall, he competed against Ronnie O’Sullivan, who won his sixth world title with an 18-8 final score.

Tonight will be the very last session of the semi-finals for this World Snooker Championship. Since Jak Jones and Stuart Bingham were unable to complete all eight parts of their third session, mainly due to a very long 21st frame – after all, Wilson and Gilbert had to start work at 3:30 PM Dutch time – a maximum of ten frames will follow tonight.
