Policy: – I gave all my 20 votes to Israel. And I will watch the final on Saturday, says Erlend Wiborg Television 2.

Wiborg is immigration policy spokesperson for the Progress Party and first deputy chairman of the municipal and administration committee at the Storting – where he has also been part of the group Israel’s friends from day one.

He says that the support for Israel in Eurovision is twofold.

– One is that I think it’s actually the best song. But then, of course, it is also about all the Jew-hatred you see. Here we are talking about a 20-year-old girl who is not responsible for anything that happens, but who in Sweden has to stay in her hotel room because it is not safe for her to move around. I think that is so extreme that I will give her my support, he says.

20-year-old Eden Golan represents Israel’s entry in Eurovision this year with the song “Hurricane”. On Thursday, she advanced to the final.

– I want to defend Israel’s right to defend itself and its country, but the vote yesterday was a whole – based on the Jew-hatred that is, and that it was the best song. It was not specifically linked to the war in Gaza, says Wiborg.
