School: Figures from Samordna admissions show a national increase of 10 per cent, but in Stord the increase is even higher, with as many as 30 per cent more applicants than the previous year.

The new part-time education is particularly popular and is now the most sought-after education at Stord, according to HVL Stord.

Dean Randi Skår expresses joy at the trend, and points to the importance of training more nurses for the region.

At the same time, the figures show a decline in applicants for primary school teacher training nationally, including at HVL, while applications for kindergarten teacher training are increasing somewhat both at Stord and nationally.

The development is also positive for HVL in Haugesund.

– That so many people want to study nursing is very good. The growth at Høgskulen på Vestlandet is the largest in the country, says vice-rector for education Anne-Grethe Naustdal.
