Sport: For almost two years, Rangnick has led the Austrian men’s national football team. In the summer, he will take it to the European Championship play-offs in Germany, but it may be the last thing he does at work.

On Wednesday, Rangnick confirmed that Bayern have contacted him, and to ORF his boss goes even further. According to Peter Schöttel, there has been a concrete offer on the table.

– If a club like Bayern Munich makes contact, it is understandable that you think about it, says the sporting director of the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB).

He expects a clarification within a week or two.

Rangnick has previously coached clubs such as Stuttgart, Schalke, Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig and Manchester United. He took over the latter for the rest of the season after Ole Gunnar Solskjær was fired in November 2021.

Bayern boss Max Eberl has stated that the club wants to get a coach in place for the future as soon as possible.

Thomas Tuchel leads Bayern until the end of the season. Earlier this year, the parties agreed to end the collaboration one year early. For the first time since 2012, the southern Germans have lost the title race in the Bundesliga, but they can still win the Champions League.
