Sport: Thus, Molde’s dream of defending the NM title is still alive.

It was Sarpsborg who came out the best from the starting blocks when Peter Reinhardsen sent Sarpsborg into the lead after just over half an hour.

Three minutes into the 2nd half, Kristian Eriksen equalized for Molde, but that result didn’t last even for a minute before Sondre Ørjasæter sent the Easterners into the lead again.

Unfortunately for the 20-year-old, the road from hero to scapegoat was short when he launched a pig tackle on Eirik Haugan. It resulted in his second yellow card and marching orders.

This opened up a lot of room for the reigning champions, who scored two quick goals signed by Anders Hagelskjær and Magnus Wolff Eikrem.

With eight minutes left on the clock, Eirik Hestad determined the result for the hosts.

On the way to the round of 16, Molde won 5-0 over Eide and Omegn, 2-1 over Strindheim and 3-1 over Hødd.

Molde won the cup last year with a 1-0 victory over Glimt.
