When former health minister Ingvild Kjerkol (Ap) protected the hospitals at Gravdal in Lofoten and in Narvik from Helse Nord’s restructuring efforts, it was accompanied by a promise of more money to run the hospital services.

According to the newspaper Forwards the revised national budget will contain NOK 145 million for the two hospitals. 80 million of them have been set aside for the hospital in Narvik, while NOK 60 million will go to the hospital at Gravdal in Lofoten. The revised national budget will be presented on 14 May.

The money is in addition to the extraordinary allocation of NOK 240 million already allocated to Health in the North this year.
