Economy and business: Several people have been critical of Israel’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) because of the ongoing Gaza war, and NRK has received pressure to boycott Israel in that connection.
But Fürst Haugen defends NRK’s position towards Israeli participation, reports Media24.
– The idea with ESC has been to create an arena to unite nations through music and culture. If we were to initiate a cultural boycott of Israel, we would lose our credibility as an independent news broadcaster. That is why we do not boycott Israel, says the NRK boss.
