In December, the government introduced changes to the competition-promoting measures in the industry. The changes are planned to come into force on 1 July. This could lead to the Q dairies losing 50 million annually in subsidies, writes E24

However, the Q dairies believe that the changes are invalid, according to a letter that the newspaper has seen. According to the company, the case management has not been good enough. Furthermore, they believe that the changes will constitute a breach of the so-called “milk settlement” from 2007, which resulted in support schemes for independent dairy companies.

The Q dairies also believe that “the unenforced doctrine of abuse of power” is a legitimate reason for a possible lawsuit.

– If, contrary to presumption, a decision were to be made in accordance with the consultation memorandum, (…) it is notified that Q-Meieriene will consider taking legal action in connection with the matter, without further notice, the company writes.
